Day 1 (Hampton Court)

We arrived at Heathrow with only a few hour's sleep, picked up the rental car and we were off!- on the left side of the road!

Hampton Court Palace and Gardens

Originally the palace of Henry VIII (early 16th C.)

then later partially rebuilt by Sir Christopher Wren for William and Mary (late 17th C.)

Henry VIII's Chapel Royal

Ceiling of the Great Hall

The Guard Chamber- Weaponry display

Tudor Kitchen- We had meat pies and scones with tea here!

Toured the gardens

and walked the Maze.

We had a late supper at the Gate Inn in Chislet, Kent, then collapsed at Reynolds Farm Guest House. Whew! It was a LONG first day.

  1. Fantastic that such beautiful buildings could be so old, and I love the gardens! Tony
